A word for the wise

Updated: Apr 18, 2022

My driving purpose is to be a bridge; helping people achieve their dreams. Assisting people travel from unbelief to the place of belief. Assisting & inspiring people in accomplishing their dreams is what I have done in the last two decades in different capacities as a husband, father, pastor or coach.

The philosophy I have adopted is “Freely I have received so freely I give”. I recently saw a financial article that in the USA about 78% of people live from pay check to pay check. That’s in the richest country in the world. The stats will be the same in the UK and likely to be worse elsewhere.

The solution is simple and multi-pronged at the same time. The first focus must be self discovery. All the gifts to help you achieve who you are meant to be is within you. Decide in your heart that you will work on yourself to be better and you will achieve greatness. There is a gift in your hand that is meant to prosper you and bring glory to God. It’s your responsibility to discover and develop it. No more moaning.

Secondly, you must have a positive mindset of God that you will not lack anything Psalm 23:1; says “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” (Psalms 23:1 NKJV) You shall lack nothing. Not ideas, not discipline, not even opportunities. Let’s take God at His word. He is for us and not against us. “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” (III John 1:2 NKJV).

It’s an amazing discovery your words & thoughts will either lift you & drown you. I have found that when I speak (life) positively, wonderful things happen. Conversely, when I have spoken negatively (death) not so good things have happened. Decide to always speak & think life. “For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”” (Matthew 12:37 NKJV)

Realise this fact that you are the director of the movie of your life. You are the hero of your story. Now make sure you win in the adventure of life before the credits start rolling. It’s never too late to start.

Decide that you will live below your means and you will seek God’s help to master the creation of “a system” to generate extra funds. Yes you will work hard in whichever field you operate in. Like Adam in the garden of Eden, Abraham & King David in the bible. However, purpose in your heart that you will win. The encouraging thing is the sense of accomplishment you will have and the freedom as well as choices extra income gives. You were created to have dominion and to flourish. Seek the face of your Creator, He is your Source and He has programmed things to work in your favour but you must effectively connect with Him. “But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.”(Psalms 1:2-3 NKJV)

Don’t despise the days of small beginnings. The principle of seed time and harvest is a powerful one and it’s in operation in our world. Sow good seed in smiles and more than likely someone will smile back at you. Sow kindness and the network of friends you have will very likely grow. Add value to yourself and others and the movie of your life starts becoming more interesting. As they say “watch the pennies and the pounds will take care of themselves”.

So let’s strive to achieve greatness. Let’s take inspiration from the infallible scriptures.

Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise, Which, having no captain, Overseer or ruler, Provides her supplies in the summer, And gathers her food in the harvest.” (Proverbs 6:6-8 NKJV)

Write your vision/dreams down clearly though it may take sometime to be realised as you work on yourself. “Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.” (Habakkuk 2:2-3 NKJV)

Constantly have your dream in view, it will amaze you that your dreams will be realised sooner rather than later. That’s how great things have happened in my life. For example how I met the girl of my dreams who has been my wife of 27 years plus and counting, that’s a story for another time.
