Power of words

Words are one of the most ignored currency. Please, sorry & thank you are magical words I was taught early on. These words have opened many doors for me and preserved quality relationships. 8,000 to 13,000 words are used daily in the west. Words move us emotionally; a baby’s first words or a loved one’s choice words increases self-esteem, value and love.

An important skill in life is the ability to craft words to do our bidding.

Do you want more friends? Learn using friendly words with the right inflections. Soft words do soothe. Words can attract or repel people.'A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger.' (Proverbs 15:1 NKJV) Great leaders (or their copywriters) spend copious hours drafting speeches to convey their ideas. We can use words wisely. Words are seed like they can grow and multiply. Being a father of two teenage daughters I have learnt to use words as garments to nourish their lives. I am a student of words as I regularly use words to comfort, encourage and inspire many diverse people.

The most important words are the words we constantly and subconsciously speak to ourselves. Speak positively to yourself and you will feel lighter. Speak negative words and you will feel down in the dumps. Tell yourself you are likeable, valued and a winner. Speak to yourself; that you can. I love the bible’s take on this; 'A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.' (Luke 6:45 NKJV) You will find your-self being more adventurous to try a new outfit, dish, hobby etc. Your resilience quotient goes northwards with this mindset. I’ve found you can use words to change your mind-set. It’s interesting when a sports team's fortune turns around. Pundits will ask; what was “said” in the dressing room?

Imagine speaking positive/life filled words to yourself and your inner circle for the next 21 days and see how your world positively changes. 'He who guards his mouth preserves his life, But he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction. A man shall eat well by the fruit of his mouth, But the soul of the unfaithful feeds on violence.' (Proverbs 13:2-3 NKJV) Enough said.
